OUR HANDCRAFTING PROCESS & THREE PRECIOUS METAL TIERS

All South Jewellery rings are handcrafted to our forever standard, featuring substantial 2mm to 2.2mm thickness bands and 0.6mm to 1mm thickness bezels for true fortress-like strength and our signature bold aesthetic.

Our unique hybrid handcrafting process is the most elite way of constructing a forever jewel. While our roots are in traditional hand-forging, we have evolved our high-value jewellery into this hybrid method because it is the ultimate standard for lifetime durability.

Every initial design is brought together by hand and eye entirely by Ali & Bex, whether hand-carved as an intricate wax model from a single block of jewellers wax or hand-forged as a silver pattern. We intentionally keep these initial patterns basic but extremely precise, as over 75% of the refinement and detail is performed by hand once the piece is transitioned into its final precious metal. By casting the initial foundation from these hand-sculpted or hand-forged originals, we strategically eliminate or reduce weak solder joins to create a unified, structurally sound foundation that is also more tarnish-resistant and sustainable.

Every band is then hammer-hardened for superior density and strength, and our signature thick bezels are hammer-hardened thousands of times when setting the treasures within. This time-intensive process compresses the metal at a molecular level, creating the toughest possible armour for your treasures whilst ensuring the final piece retains the raw soul and distinctive thumbprint of hand-finished artistry. Although this entire process is significantly more time-consuming and costly for us to handcraft, the result is a ring with the seamless geometry of a cast piece, the molecular toughness of a hand-forged heirloom, and the fingerprint and makers' marks of a master jeweller. While every tier is built for a lifetime, our higher gold tiers offer a more maintenance-free experience and a richer aesthetic. This is a ring for life.

ORIGINAL HERITAGE | 925 STERLING SILVER

Our entry-tier metal that never compromises on structural integrity. These bands are scaled to a 2.2mm thickness which is slightly thicker than our 2mm gold bands to compensate for the natural properties of silver, utilising hammer-hardened, labour-intensive band & bezel settings for maximum durability and stone security. While built to the same fortress like specifications as our gold tiers, silver is a more reactive metal that requires more care and regular cleaning to maintain its bright, classic luster. It is the perfect choice for those who appreciate the distinctive, evolving character of hand-finished silver. Every silver ring is created with the same hybrid handcrafting expertise and high-strength hardening techniques as our most elite commissions.
